Mr. Tyson has studied Pilates method for over twenty two years and is a Certified Pilates Instructor. Mr. Tyson remains active and conversant with the evolution of the Pilates method and it is a key component to his Dance Artistry.

The Pilates method focuses on lengthening, toning, stretching and strengthening the entire body. A Pilates regimen concentrates on the powerhouse or core of the anatomy, i.e.,the abdomen and the gluteal region, creating a slenderized body with long sleek muscles without building bulk. Pilates method rejuvenates the body since the exercises are performed on the horizontal level (on a mat or exercise apparatus), never exhausting or tiring the muscles. All of the Pilates exercises incorporate nine key priciples: breath, center, concentration, control, fluidity, imagination, intuition, integration and precision. Pilates system of exercises proves very beneficial as a supplemental therapeutic technique for dancers and non-dancers alike. A Pilates class will help develop and maintain a stronger and healthier body. The Pilates method is designed to aid in developing the body uniformly. The study of Pilates will help correct alignment, restore physical vitality and invigorate the mind.
